The Bookish Bulletin: August ’19 | Where Did Time Go?!

Guys…! Where the frick did August go?! Like… Wasn’t it July just yesterday? I’m literally just… blown away. So much has happened this month and I guess that’s the main reason this month has just flown by? I have so much to tell you! Most of it is probably work-related, and I don’t have many bookish things to say, I guess. Let’s just dive straight in!

    Book Babble Revisited: Audiobooks!

Back when I was still a newbie book blogger, I did bookish discussions and called them “Book Babbles.” After I got back from my hiatus, I kind of let go of that name and just came up with individual titles for discussions, but I recently read a bunch of them for new blogging inspiration and to see if any of my opinions had changed and I realised my audiobooks post could use a part two! Hence why I decided to revisit my Book Babble and do a new discussion post on audiobooks!

    My Struggles With Bookstagram

I usually “rant away” on my Tumblr, but as I was typing up this one, I felt like it wasn’t enough to just post it on there. Here’s the thing: I love Bookstagram. I absolutely love creating beautiful photos for both my blog and my IG. However, I’m also really struggling with the platform. If you follow me, you might know I’ve been posting terribly inconsistently. Until recently, I couldn’t quite put my finger on why I struggled so much. Then I read this thing on Twitter and I was like “Ooohh…” It’s not just one thing that bothers me or that I struggle with. There’s more.

ARCs: Are We Hyping Them Up Too Much?

I have a love-hate relationship with Advanced Reader Copies. They’re great! Professional readers (bloggers, booksellers, librarians) can read books ahead of publication so that once they come out (or even before that!), they can talk about those books and help promote them to the best of their abilities. But there’s also a downside: they’re really exclusive and usually only available to US and UK bloggers. Especially for international bloggers, it can be nearly impossible get one! I’m eternally grateful for the few eARCs I do receive, and I love reading them, but I also feel like there’s a lot of problems when it comes to ARCs.

    Being An International Book Blogger

I must’ve written a “Being an International Book Blogger” post like three times since I started blogging in May 2016. I never published it because I felt like it wasn’t important or useful or good enough to be published. I was just complaining without reason, right? I also usually keep my opinions and ranting on my Tumblr, but with everything going on, I thought I’d make an exception. I’m absolutely devastated by the recent developments (or rather steps backwards) by Goodreads and Netgalley. I don’t think I’ll be able to say anything that hasn’t been said yet, but I wanted to share my view nonetheless.

Thoughts on Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix

OH MY GOODNESS, YOU GUYS! I have finished it. I have finally, FINALLY finished it. If you read my monthly wrap ups and TBRs, you probably know I’ve been reading Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix for two whole months. Yes, TWO months. Insane, right?! I finally read that last page yesterday and words can’t describe how accomplished I feel. Anyway, today’s post won’t really be a review, but more like random babble about this brick of a book. Please be aware of (minor) spoilers if you haven’t read the books yet!

    It’s my One Year Blogiversary!

Holy moly! It’s my one year blogiversary! I know I haven’t been very active lately, but I was focusing on my internship and graduating. My exam deadlines are next week, but I scheduled some blogging time so could put up this post. A lot of amazing things have happend in the past year, so I’ll be sharing some of my favourite blog posts as well as looking forward to things to come. Finally, I’m hosting a giveaway to celebrate my one year anniversary! It’s super fun, so don’t forget to check it out.

    Book Babble: Happily Ever After

I was participating in a Twitter chat a few weeks ago, (I can’t remember which one, though!) and we ended up chatting about Happily Ever After in YA. It got me thinking about it a lot afterwards. Is it even realistic to give YA books an HEA? I mean, characters aren’t even twenty yet! This week’s Book Babble (my two-weekly bookish discussion, if you didn’t know) is all about Happily Ever After in YA!

Book Babble: Why I Don’t DNF Books

DNF: Did Not Finish. | Some people never DNF a book in their life, others DNF more than they complete. Some people review their DNFs, others think it’s unfair. Basically, lots of people have lots of different opinions about not finishing books! In my new Book Babble (aka bookish discussion) I share my thoughts and opinions on DNF’ing books.

    Book Babble: (Special) Editions

Something that annoys me endlessly, is different editions of books. I mean, we all want a series of books with the same covers and spines, right? That can’t just be me. Anyway, something that annoys me even more, is special editions of books. They’re cool, really, but nearly impossible to get if you’re not in the US or UK. Today, I’d like to discuss (special) editions of books!
