My Bookish Christmas Wishlist

It has been absolutely ages since I last made an actual wishlist. I remember when I was little, me and my little brother would go through the toy store’s catalogue to circle the things we wanted for the Dutch holiday Sinterklaas and Christmas. Still to this day, I take a quick look at the catalogue when it falls on the doormat. I guess I’m sentimental, hehe! Anyway, Christmas is close and for the firs time in forever, I’m making a Christmas wishlist! Spoiler alert: it only has books.

The reason my list only has books is quite simple: I told my mom I didn’t want anything for Christmas (I have SO MUCH already!) But she still wanted to get me something anyway, so we made a deal; I’d make a wishlist, and she’d get me some books. Anyway, here’s what’s on my Christmas Wishlist!

Harry Potter & The Philosopher’s Stone Illustrated Edition by J.K. Rowling I’ve been wanting this one before I had even read the “normal/original” book and, honestly, I think it’s the reason I decided to pick up the Harry Potter series in the first place (I didn’t want to wait years for all the illustrated books to be released)! It would be such an incredible gift to get for Christmas because I can really see myself sit down near the Christmas tree with a nice cup of tea and a blanket to read this book.

An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson This is by far my most anticipated 2017 debut and I can’t believe it’s not on my shelf yet! Unfortunately, I had to cancel my preorder right before it came out and I’m kind of just waiting to finally get it ever since, hehe!

Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas I think this is the most surprising one on the list because how in the hell don’t I own this already?! Well, another case of “I had to cancel my preorder.” Ugh, guys, I’m still devastated. Chaol is one of my favourite characters in the Throne of Glass series and the fact that I haven’t been able to pick it up makes me so sad!

A Darker Shade of Magic Collector’s Edition by V.E. Schwab I have all the Shades of Magic books in my Kindle app, but I loved them so much I just want them on my shelf. I love the Collector’s Edition, but for some reason I’m terrified it will sell out and that’s why I decided to put it on my wishlist. I feel like I can always still get the “normal” hardback once I collect the other two books in the trilogy, hahah!

Geekerella by Ashley Posten Looking at this list, Geekerella is like the odd duck of the family. I got the audiobook when it was an Audible Daily Deal and it was so incredible! I honestly consider this one of my all time favourite contemporaries. Obviously, I need it on my shelf.

Shadow & Bone Trilogy Box Set by Leigh Bardugo To be completely honest: I’ve never read anything my Leigh Bardugo. I wasn’t really all that interested in her books until I heard how much everyone loved it and the new editions of Shadow & Bone came out! I recently found there’s a box set with the new editions and it’s veryyyyy high on my wishlist because it’s beautiful and I don’t own a box set yet! (Plus, I just really want to read all of these soooo bad!)

Harry Potter & The Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling I haven’t read all of the Harry Potter series yet, but I really want to finish it next year! I’ve read up until Order of the Phoenix, so it’s now time for the Half-Blood Prince! I’ve seen the movie, but I really cannot wait to read the book.

Because You Love To Hate Me Anthology by Ameriie This anthology is a collaboration between 13 authors and 13 BookTubers, and it’s all about villains! Authors like Victoria Schwab and Renée Ahieh have written stories for this book. Honestly, it would just be so wonderful to have this book and read a short story every once in a while!

Dutch Edition of The White Rose by Amy Ewing I got The Jewel in Dutch earlier this year because the Dutch publisher also published House of Stone in a beautiful paperback edition. The White Rose came out recently and I’d actually really like to know how this series continues! Plus, the covers in this series just look so beautiful!

The Midnight Heir Gift Edition by Cassandra Clare You might have completely missed this, but there’s a Gift Editon for The Midnight Heir from the Bane Chronicles by Cassandra Clare! I read the eBook on Scribd last year, but I don’t own it yet. This gift edition is just a small, cute square and it’s perfect to receive as a gift!

What’s on your Christmas Wishlist this year? Anything other than books? Hehe!

PS. if you’re still looking for bookish gift ideas for loved ones, I made a bookish gift guide!

I own the Harry Potter illustrated edition and it is one of the most beautiful books I’ve ever seen. It enhances the experience 100%, but I still have to do my first re-read of the series with it! An Enchantment of Ravens is one I was really anticipating as well! It sounds like it is a very atmospheric book, perfect for this time of the year. I hope I can buy it soon too.
I got Because You Love To Hate Me on my e-reader because I couldn’t get a physical copy at the time, but I still haven’t even read it! I’m super excited about, despite having heard average reviews. I still love the authors involved and I think the whole idea behind it was super original and fun. I want to support the booktubers as well!

The new editions of Shadow and Bone are TO DIE FOR! Unfortunately, I splurged on the entire trilogy at once before it came out, and it really annoyed me. I don’t really want to spend mor eon it now, but I am convinced that I will get rid of the old editions sometime in the future and buy the new box set. The old and the new versions CANNOT compare, in my opinion.

Honestly, I could just go on rambling, but I’m going to close it here. So sorry for the large comment. I’ve got #thoughts. Have a nice day!

Thank you for your comment, don’t worry about the size of it, hehe! 😉 I have to admit, I mostly want to read the Grisha books BECAUSE of the new editions… I didn’t really care about it before they came out!

I managed to listen to the audiobook of An Enchantment of Ravens a few days ago and it’s so wonderful! I’m still keeping it on my list because I want a hardback. The cover is so pretty! I’m sure you’ll love it if you ever decide to pick it up!

I love the idea behind Because You Love To Hate Me as well! I don’t really care much about the Booktubers but I love most of the authors and the fact that it’s about villains makes it perfect! Regardless of whether I get it for Christmas or not, this will definitely be on my shelf one day, haha! 🙊

I really hope to read An Enchantment of Ravens soon! I’m glad you’re enjoying the audio. I love booktubers and I watch them daily. I’m starting my own channel soon. It’s so exciting!

Ah I love your wishlist, so many great books! The illustrated ediiton of Harry Potter is also on my wishlist, it is soo beautiful. I still want to read the Grisha Trilogy and Geekrella <3

    • Ayla

Thank you! The illustrated editions are so beautiful! Like… I can’t even believe they’re real sometimes ahahah! 😅 I’m sure you’ll love Geekerella! The audiobook was amazing and even though I listened to it not that long ago, I really want to read/listen to it again already!

  • Kathy @ Books & Munches

    Ooh, nice wish list!

I read Because You Love To Hate Me and I really didn’t care for it all that much.. Sure there are some fun stories in there but others were soooo disappointing to me? I own a copy but I’m honestly thinking about unhauling it. I’m going to think a bit harder about it and maybe send it your way? *If someone doesn’t gift it to you for Christmas, that is, haha.*

    • Ayla

That would be wonderful! Don’t worry about it, though! If I don’t get it for Christmas I might just get it at a later point. 🙂 I think it’s always a bit tricky with anthologies because the stories can be so different and then there’s obviously ones you like and ones you don’t. 😉
