Behind the Books: August ’17

Hiya! We’re halfway through the month, which means it’s time for a new Behind the Books post. I’m finally back to my somewhat regular schedule and I’m really into it again! I’ve been struggling for a while – sometimes I still am – but it’s nice to see how things are paying off. Anyway, as usual I talk about the blog, my personal life and my current reads. Happy reading!

The Blog

I get so incredibly happy whenever I look at my stats and I’m so grateful for everyone who visits, reads and comments on my blog. It’s not all that much on a day to day basis, but it adds for the monthly stats! I won’t go into specifics, but over the past month or so I’ve had at least one visitor per day. It makes me so happy because I feel as if my reviews are getting better and I’m really loving the content I’m putting out! I’m in a little photography and Bookstagram slump, but I’m doing the best I can and sometimes that’s what matters.

A Personal Update

Although I hate talking about it, I still don’t have a job! It’s entirely my own fault, but it worries me sometimes. I burry myself in blog work and ignore “adult-life responsibilities”. Sometimes I’m actually a bit sad I graduated! Anyway, the free time is also doing my quite well. For the first time, I feel like I have time to do whatever I want, whether that’s watching movies and tv shows or reading or gaming. For the longest time, I’ve just felt exhausted 24/7 and I couldn’t do anything after school or internship. I’m so glad that finally changed! Obviously, the job hunt continues…

So, I thought I’d extent this bit of the post a bit by talking about what music I’m listening to and what shows I’m watching! My music has been all over the place lately. I listen to the Moana/Viana soundtrack and some of my favourite songs from Descendants and Descendants 2. I’ve actually made a playlist of my favourite Disney Channel Songs! Other than that, it’s mix of PVRIS, SAINTE, a little bit of Shawn Mendes and Hunter Hayes. Random, right? Anyway, I watched the season finale of Shadowhunters yesterday and I’m somewhat disappointed, although I cannot wait for season three! This actually reminds me that I need to watch the rest of Luke Cage because the release of Defenders on Netflix is so close! EEEKK! Is anyone going to watch? I’m so excited!

July/August Book Haul

I preordered three of my most anticipated releases: Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas, Before She Ignites by Jodi Meadows and An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson. Although I don’t actually own them yet, I decided to include them in here because I’m just too excited not to mention them!

Other than the preorders, I only bought two new books this month! The Wrath & The Dawn by Renee Ahdieh was only € 0,99 on Kindle and since I had the first two books in the Shades of Magic trilogy by V.E. Schwab on Kindle, I decided to get A Conjuring of Light on Kindle as well. I’m so incredibly excited about this last one because it made me realise how convenient Kindle can be: I literally got ACOL five minutes after finishing A Gathering of Shadows because oh my god that end!

Currently Reading

I’m currently reading… Nothing! Which is quite rare, hehe! I finished Labyrinth Lost by Zoraida Córdova last night and since I try to write my review before picking up a new book, I haven’t picked up anything yet. Since I read it on my iPad, I want to pick up something from my physical TBR. I’m thinking of picking up Seeker by Arwen Elys Dayton or Heartless by Marissa Meyer. What should I do?

What do you think I should read next? Let me know in the comments! Also: I’m thinking of starting a monthly sort-of newsletter, would you be interested in subscribing if I did?

I would love to read a monthly newsletter kind of thing <3 I really like this blogpost, a kind of peek in your (reading) life. I am currently reading Winter, I would really recommend to read the Lunar Chronicles if you haven't already <3 I recently bought A Darker Shade of Magic and I can't wait to read it.

Yay! I’m so glad to hear that! I might launch my newletter sometime before the new year. 🙂
I’m still not sure whether or not I like the Lunar Chronicles, but I might just pick up the first book to see. 🙂
EEKK! I’m so excited you got A Darker Shade of Magic! I’m sure you’ll love it! <3
