Waiting on Wednesday: Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking The Spine. I’ve been wanting to to this for a while, but I could never really figure out how I could do photography with a book that hasn’t been released yet. Thankfully I finally figured it out! I won’t be doing it every week, but I’ve got some very exciting anticipated releases for the end of the year that I want to share with you over the next few weeks. Here’s five reasons why I can’t wait for Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas!

As you all probably know, I’m a huge fan of the Throne of Glass series and Sarah J. Maas. Throne of Glass was the first SJM (e)book I read and I loved it so much, I decided to order almost the entire series in hardcover at once because I had to read them! I’m rereading the series as we speak, so I can remember all the necessary details. Anyway, let’s dive into why I can’t wait for this new instalment in the series!

It’s parallel to Empire of Storms

I just love the concept of parellel books! Especially since this will be the last one before the final book releases next year. It’s like a double buildup to the finale! I have to admit I was a little meh about the novella turning into a full book, but I’m so excited! I just cannot wait to see what kind of influence Chaol has over the events in Empire of Storms. I mean, who knows what that guy’s been up to?!

The Quotes

Can Bloomsbury please stop posting all these teaser quotes?! My favourite so far is: “Know what wherever the road takes you, however dark, you will be alright.” Doesn’t this sound amazing?! asdfghjkl guys!!! I’m beyond excited for this book. Can we fast forward to September now, please? If you want to read the other quotes that have been released so far, just search for Tower of Dawn on Twitter and you’re all set.

The UK Back Cover

If you haven’t seen the back covers yet, they’re on Bloomsbury’s Twitter. I was a little pissed off about this tweet at first, because I didn’t want to see it yet! At the same time I was literally out of my mind when I saw/read them! It’s like a love-hate situation. I didn’t really want to see them but at the same time I just couldn’t wait! And that synopsis on the UK cover! EEKK!!! I feel like it’s going in a bit of a different direction that I thought it would and I’m SO EXCITED!

The Characters

Chaol is my favourite, I think pretty much everyone knows that! I really, really missed him in Empire of Storms and when I reread the first three books over the past two months, my love for him only grew! I’m beyond happy he’s getting “his own” book. Also, even though Nesryn isn’t my favourite, I’m so glad we get to see more of her! I’m probably most excited about Yrene. I loved her in The Assassin’s Blade and I can’t wait to see more of the Torre Cesme! We saw a little bit of it in Heir of Fire, but it was nowhere near enough for me.

The Throne of Glass World

The world in Throne of Glass is my all time favourite fictional world. We got to see so much through the entire series, especially The Assassin’s Blade and Heir of Fire. I can’t wait for that to continue in Tower of Dawn! I mean, we get to see the Southern Continent, Antica and the Torre Cesme! Every time I finish a book in the series, I’m sad to leave the world. I’m so glad I get to dive back in when I get my hands on this book!

About Tower of Dawn

In the next installment of the New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass series, follow Chaol on his sweeping journey to a distant empire.

Chaol Westfall has always defined himself by his unwavering loyalty, his strength, and his position as the Captain of the Guard. But all of that has changed since the glass castle shattered, since his men were slaughtered, since the King of Adarlan spared him from a killing blow, but left his body broken.

His only shot at recovery lies with the legendary healers of the Torre Cesme in Antica–the stronghold of the southern continent’s mighty empire. And with war looming over Dorian and Aelin back home, their survival might lie with Chaol and Nesryn convincing its rulers to ally with them.

But what they discover in Antica will change them both–and be more vital to saving Erilea than they could have imagined.

I’m cautiously excited for this one. I really want to like it and hope it’s amazing but I don’t like what SJM did with Chaol’s character in QoS. He became tolerable, and I kinda loved him again, by the end but I’m just nervous she’s gonna make him unlikable again and that wouldn’t be a very fun read…

I hadn’t even thought of it like that! I’ve really loved Chaol from the beginning and although he didn’t really have his act together when it comes to Celaena/Aelin and, I kind of still loved him? hahah 😉 I’m really sad about what Sarah did him in QoS and then not having him in EoS sort of killed me!

I really hope this’ll be an amazing book, but I’m also kind of trying to calm myself down in terms of excitement and expectations so it won’t disappoint, hehe!
