Top Ten Tuesday: Back to School

Top Ten Tuesday: Back to SchoolIt’s Tuesday, which can only mean one thing: It’s Top Ten Tuesday! This fun meme was created by The Broke and the Bookish. This week is all about back to school! I’m graduating from college in May, so this will be my last time actually going back to school! For today’s list, I decided to talk about the books I read when I was in High School!

Back To School Freebie — anything “back to school” related like 10 favorite books I read in school, books I think should be required reading, Required Reading For All Fantasy Fans, required reading for every college freshman, Books to Pair With Classics or Books To Complement A History Lesson, books that would be on my classroom shelf if I were a teacher

1. The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks

During my first year of High School, I started reading English books that weren’t from my school library. The first one I read was The Last Song! I think of this book as the one that got me back into reading!

2. Twilight by Stephanie Meyer

I still read this one in Dutch, and I think I started reading it when I was still in my first year. One of my mom’s friends and someone I hung out with a lot back then was also a huge fan! I remember she borrowed my copy of Breaking Dawn. I also saw the movies with her, since I had no one else to go with!

3. Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl

Through all of high school I was bullied and alone, so at one point I stopped caring what people thought of me, and I started reading books during my breaks! I remember reading this one on my first crappy tablet as an ebook and then rereading it during my breaks between classes! I must’ve read the book like three times during high school!

4. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

The Hunger Games was one of the first English trilogies I read! I don’t even know how I knew about them, all I remember is that this online store had a 2 + 1 sale, and I got all three at once! The were actually a few of the first books on my bookshelf. After I put all my children’s books away.

5. Wither by Lauren DeStefano

I remember one of the first times I went shopping alone, I went shopping for a book. The Dutch translation of this one was on sale, just like Divergent. Basically, it was either Wither or Divergent and I got this one! I never continued the Chemical Garden trilogy, but I read the first book sometime during high school.

6. Divergent by Veronica Roth

I think I read a part of the trilogy during college, but I must’ve started reading Divergent when I was still in high school!

7. Marked by P.C. & Kristin Cast

I read a whole bunch of the House of Night books during high school. In one summer break, I must’ve read about half of them on my first iPod Touch as ebook. Unfortunately, I have no clue which once I read and didn’t read, so I stopped. The one I do remember reading – because I own a copy – is Marked, book one in the series. I read it in both Dutch and English!

8. The Fame Game by Lauren Conrad

I got this during another 2 + 1 sale. I didn’t know about Goodreads back then (Did it even exist?) so instead of getting book three of the Vampire Diaries, I got this one as the third book! I never continued reading the trilogy, and it’s a very random book on my bookshelf these days.

9. My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult

This one was on my shelf for a very long time until I finally read it. Probably like a year or so. I’m still shocked at how different it was from the movie! But, it was still an enjoyable (and sad!) read.

10. The Selection by Kiera Cass

I must’ve been in High School when I read The Selection for the first time! I honestly don’t remember when I read it first. It was a long time ago, so I imagine it would be during high school.
