Top Ten Tuesday: Underrated Books

Let's celebrate underrated books! This week's Top Ten Tuesday is all about underrated books. These are the underrated books that I read.Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. I’ve been doing it for  weeks now and I’m loving it so much! The topics are so much fun, but this one is probably one of my favourites. It’s all about underrated books. I don’t actually read them often, but underrated books need more attention! My list includes eight books this week.

Top Ten Books We Enjoyed That Have Under 2000 Ratings On Goodreads (we’ve done underrated books a bunch of times in the past 6 years but thanks to Lenore at Celebrity Readers for suggesting this topic as a new way to talk about underrated books especially when underrated is subjective. An easy way to find this — go to Goodreads, your read list, at the top of your read list where it says settings you can add a column for # of ratings, then you can sort by that. If you aren’t a Goodreads user you can look up books you think are underrated and see what their # of reviews is on Goodreads? Or if that’s too hard you can spin it some other way!

1. The Violet Blake Series by Bre Faucheux

I reviewed this book a while ago. I received and eARC and I loved it so much! This book only has 29 ratings, but it’s so good! I really recommend this one.

2. Pretty Little Liars 1 & 2 by Sara Sheppard

I’m sure the English versions have way more than 2000 ratings, but my edition (which is an omnibus) only has 107.

3. Flames Like Vines by Sara Raasch

This is technically not a book, but a novella. It only has 159 ratings!

4. Paradigm by Ceri A. Lowe

Paradigm by Ceri A. Lowe only has 204 ratings and I’m so shocked! This was going to be a trilogy and I was so excited about it, but apparently the trilogy never happened. I can’t even find anything about why it didn’t happen. Probably because of the fact that it only has so few ratings. Too bad, though, because I really enjoyed this book!

5. Icicles Like Kindling by Sara Raasch

Maybe it’s just me, but I think it’s funny how this Snow Like Ashes novella has more ratings than the other one, hehe! (The other one has a cover and everything – this one doesn’t!) With 626 ratings, this book it the 5th most underrated book on my Goodreads read shelf.

6. Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella

This is also a Dutch omnibus. It includes part one and two of the Shopaholic series. The English editions probably have muuuuuuch more than 2000 ratings! This one has 1004.

7. The Mirror King by Jodi Meadows

HOW. DID THIS. END UP. HERE. How does this only have 1309 ratings?! Guys?! Seriously?! Go read it! Go review it! I’m actually embarrassed by the Goodreads community right now… (PS. Read my review, you’ll definitely want to read it!)

8. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Part 2

This is the second Manga in the Legend of Zelda series and I absolutely love it! It has 1653  ratings. The first manga was actually quite close to making it to this list, with only 2454 ratings.

That’s all the books on my Goodreads read shelf with less than 2000 ratings! What underrated books are on your Goodreads shelves?

    • Ayla

Hahah, I thought so! I wouldn’t really have been able to make a list if I didn’t just take the books on my Goodreads shelf and look at their ratings, I don’t read enough “underrated” books for that! ;P

  • Allyson Gilmore

I loved seeing the Zelda manga make your list! I have the whole series, but it never occurred to me to check their ratings :p Also, I wanted to read Paradigm, but that makes me sad about the trilogy never happening. Does the first book leave off with a cliffhanger that will make me regret reading it?

    My TTT.

    • Ayla

That’s so cool! I’ve been wanting the Zelda series for a while now, but so far I’ve only gotten the first two!

I don’t think Paradigm ended with a cliffhanger, but I’m really not sure! Its been quite a while since I’ve read it, and I read it as an ebook on Scribd at that time, so I don’t own it and can’t check, sorry! 🙁 I don’t think you’ll regret reading it though! I really enjoyed the book. 😉
